As we started to track “Deaths of Despair” in the 1980s, we observed a significant increase in these during the largest decrease in religiosity which was from 1985 to 2000.
I realize that some readers will have a knee-jerk reaction to those statistics saying, “It is possible to show a relationship between any two sets of numbers but that doesn’t mean they are related and warranted as a subject of discussion.” While this writer agrees with that as a stand alone statement, let’s look a little further.
COVID. . . .Churches delt with this in many ways. Some facilities became dormant, which were the hardest hit, when it came to the ability to resume “In Person” attendance. Some Churches maintained Services each week via Live Streaming. Most of these Churches did not suffer financially and when “In Person” Worship was restored, they quickly were restored to Pre-Pandemic attendance.
Now those “Church Statistics” are great, but what did the Church Learn from the COVID pandemic, with respect to the statics from the study from 1985 to 2000?
The statistics from the aforementioned study were grimly underscored. The year of isolation, due to COVID, the same year that so many Churches took “off” saw "Deaths of Despair" jump to 186,763.
Again the “Na-Sayers” will point out that not all of the 186,763 were “Church Goers” so how does the absence of Church play into all of these numbers?
That answer points to such an important fact, and that is the value of associating with Church Members in the community. It has been said many times that “Believers” are the only Bible some folks will ever be exposed to.
Understand that, Preparing Believers to Externally Exude their Beliefs, is the Job of the Church.
The Church is the key, the path for your community to experience the Love of Jesus Christ and be exposed to His gift of eternal life.
But most importantly, Church teaches us how we can have that personal relationship with our Father and teach us that He will take care of us in every case.
I truly do not know how anyone gets through the day-to-day perils of life, without knowing and relying each day on being able to ask God for help.
That is what is missing in society today, it is hopelessness, that is at the root of the situational mental decline, in this country!
It is the Promise of Christ that gives HOPE, to Hopeless Situations.
Is your Church doing the best it can do to Prepare Believers to Externally Exude their Beliefs in YOUR Community?
Is YOUR Church making it a priority to tell the WORLD, that it is the Promise of Christ that gives HOPE, to Hopeless Situations?
Are the Pastors of YOUR Church praying for the other Churches in your community?
Does YOUR Church understand that it takes ALL Churches to make a difference in your community?
